A traditional concert with the talented duo

Notes post listening

The shawl incident

Loud

Technical

Was able to stay with one song.

The role of the accompanying musician was magnified.

The being present and staying with the song - the viola player

Reflection:

The previous concert, the liveness of it disturbed the ‘quality’ to a negligible level but here it just took over to the extent that the experience was coloured by it throughout.

The sound quality was (could also be where we sat) was jarring to the degree that it highly disturbed the quality of the experience.

Tuning out throughout - I made myself focus on one song, followed it through its technical flawlessness but non-melodic rendition. Was hard. We were not able to build that relationship that was crucial to hearing.

The musicians were in constant conversation (first 20 minutes) with the sound person, again jarring to the quality.

The one highlight, which was really was a thread from the previous live experience was the role of the accompanying instrumental player, incidentally he was the same person in both concerts - I moved my attention to him and it was a revelation cause I was able to observe their ‘relation’, which was a beautiful expression of hearing. The space you are in impacts your hearing and sensing during an experience.
